Sweden
Karolinska Institute
Located at one of Europe’s best medical universities, the KI campaign launched in September 2025. The campaign has focused on internal lobbying and has built strong support in the Student Union leadership, departments, and has the general support of the University’s Central Administration. In 2026, the KI campaign expects to hand in a motion in support of 100% plant-based catering at the Student Union. Following this, it will continue to work with the Central Administration to implement university policies which support plant-based catering.
KTH
Located in Sweden’s foremost technology university, the KTH campaign launched in April 2025. The campaign conducts regular social, cooking, and educational events for hundreds of students and has collected ~400 petition signatures from students. It has started to build strong relationships with various ‘sections’ of the Student Union. In 2026, the KTH campaign intends to submit a motion to the student union and to start lobbying the central Environmental Administration.
Linköping university (LiU)
The campaign at Linköping University, Sweden, started in March 2025. This year, the campaign has built a great network of contacts throughout the university and with other social justice movements around the cities of Norrköping and Linköping. In 2025, they managed to get 233 signatures, held a pub evening, and did a combined seminar with the largest student climate association amongst others. They are now planning for 2026 by organising more seminars with the university’s sustainability office, collecting signatures, collaborating with university restaurants.
LUND UNIVERSITY
In March 2025 the campaign at Lund University, Sweden, was re-launched. Previously, the campaign had been active in 2023 and organised seminars and spoke to stakeholders. Due to this work, Lund university agreed to be 100% vegetarian by default for internal catering events. Since the campaign was re-launched, they meet every week to strategise, hold outreach events, movie nights, baking evenings and have also spoken to the student unions. They are now planning on handing in a motion to the student union to vote through 100% plant-based catering.
SLU (UPPSALA)
Located at the Nordic’s largest agricultural university, the SLU campaign was launched in Spring 2025. It has conducted a number of student outreach events and has built a strong relationship with the SLU Sustainability Committee. Given the polarisation at the agricultural university, in 2026, the campaign will focus on a campaign for 100% plant-based milks on campus, as well as education and gaining student and staff support.
STOCKHOLM UNIVERSITY
Located in the largest university in Sweden’s capital, the SU campaign launched in November 2025 and is the most recent campaign to launch in the Nordics. It has already completed a number of student outreach events and a small number of social events to build a core team. In 2026, it will prioritise building a larger team, gaining the support of the Student Union, and targeting the most effective ways to implement material change at the university following more research and stakeholder mapping in early 2026.
Uppsala University
Located in the Nordic’s oldest university, Uppsala University’s campaign was the only active Nordic campaign when it launched in November 2023. Through rigorous trial and error, it became the first campaign in the Nordics to get the support of the Student Union for 100% plant-based catering in April 2025 after collecting ~1500 petition signatures from students. The group has also been elected as the Student Representative to the university’s Environmental Plan Working Group. In 2026, it is expected that the University Administration will set new environmental policies which increase the proportion of plant-based food on campus. The group is now working to impact the campus restaurant procurement process, individual departments and starting a student-led catering operation at the Student Union.
